Botanical Gardens Urangdan

We had a lovely time at the Botanical Gardens. Tropical Gardens are very different to us Tasmanians but so lush and green.

Dinner at the Marina

I've been taking photos of boats in the bay. They look so serene in this beautiful place. We had a special dinner at the Marina---Barrramundi and whiting. All while overlooking the Marina----even a four piece Quartet!!

Walk on Urangan Pier at Sunset

It was so lovely to have a beautiful sunny day today so we walked and walked---freedom after all the rain we've had. Our last walk was to Urangan Pier at sunset. Somethings we do are just good for our soul---this was definately one of those!!! The walk on this Pier always makes me feel good but tonight was very special---something about sunset in the tropics. I only had this feeling once before when we stayed with Shell and children at Noosa. Its a matter of catching the sunset and letting it soak into your soul. WE walked about 7kls and it nearly killed me but I loved every minute of this very special  time.

Maryborough

It is raining so hard at Maryborough all day couldn't believe it!! Lady told me it was the first day of winter---wish it had waited a week or two. We are wearing the only 'cold clothes" we brought with us. We headed into "town" to shop but all the shops were closed---no Sunday shopping in Maryborough!! I drove my brother Bill's car which was a bit scary---manual when I am used to automatic. David was telling me when to change gears!!! Bit funny!! Exhaust was very noisy too so everyone heard me coming!!

Train to Maryborough

Trip to Maryborough took five hours so a long one but theres something very special about train travel. They have a Club car so you can walk around and get a meal. My  beautiful niece Tracey picked us up at Maryborough and this was a special surprise. It was raining heavily so we were very happy to get a lift to Maryborough.

Farewell Brisbane

Today Gail took me to breakfast at GOMA and we went to wonderful exhibition---"Modern Woman". We both loved it so much!! Then she took us to train---Spirit of the Outback"!! Now we are travelling to Maryborough. Love train travel!! Its the best!!I have loved this special time with Gail. We both love this gallery and the exhibitions held there. We loved making paper birds together!! This was called "Fly Away Home"---best children's exhibit but we loved it too!! I love beautiful Brisbane and next holiday we will stay longer for sure!! Special thanks to Gail!!

Exhibition and Brisbane

WE had the best day in beautiful Brisbane today. WE walked to GOMA---Gallery of Modern art----my favourite place ever!! I Saw this absolutely beautiful exhibition "Modern Woman---Daughters and Lovers---DRawings from the Musee D`Orsay, Paris". It takes my breath away to stand in front of an Degas, Renoir, and even Toulouse Lautrec. Mary Cassatt is another favorite of mine that was featured!! Makes me shed tears to stand before such beauty.

Then David and I caught a ferry and went down the river and back to the Botanical Gardens for a  stroll----love this city that is so accessible and absolutely beautiful!!

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Arrived in Brisbane yesterday, dropped bags and headed off to GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art) for a talk on Gender bias in the past and now  etc. The Gallery is showing a wonderful exhibition on modern woman that we will see today. Anyway this talk that my lovely niece Gail took me to was very interesting and was a live broadcast on radio national. Then we took a beautiful walk along the river where the reflections were so splendid. Had dinner at this little restaurant where we sat outside with red rugs over our knees supplied by the restaurant! What a beautiful time with a special niece!!

David was reluctant to come at first but I think he's secretly excited about going now!! Love this photo taken at Jade's wedding. It's hard for him to leave the chooks and Ned and the garden. However the sun is beckoning and we both have our aches and pains!! Seeing Bill and Berris and possibly Gail will be so good!! :)

Sue and David's Trip to Maryborough

David and I are heading to Maryborough Queensland to visit my brother Bill and his wife Berris. We leave on Thursday 21st June for 15days. It will be great to catch up with our northern relations. It will be especially great to escape the cold weather in Tassie for a couple of weeks. I have just completed first semester at Uni in my third year and a break from study sounds great to me!!
